Power and Performance

The base model of the Explorer has a 300-horsepower four-cylinder engine, while the larger Expedition offers 400 hp in the base model. It also has a more powerful twin-turbo V6 that gets up to 440 hp, and you can upgrade the Explorer to a 400-hp engine in the top trims.

You’ll be able to tow up to 5,000 pounds with the Explorer and a max of 9,800 with the Expedition, and you can add advanced trailer features like Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Both SUVs come with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Infotainment Tech

The Explorer features a standard 13.2-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch driver information display while the Expedition offers a 24-inch display screen with the same infotainment touchscreen as in the Explorer. In either, you’ll have standard smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot, Amazon Alexa voice commands, and built-in Google Apps. Wireless charging is optional for both SUVs.

Interior Space and Features

Each SUV lets you choose a three-seat bench or two captain’s chairs for the second row. Seating ranges from seven to eight in the Expedition, which accommodates three people in the third row. The Explorer fits two in the third row for a total of six or seven passengers.

The Expedition comes in a long-wheelbase model, expanding its total cargo space from 108.5 to more than 123 cubic feet. The Explorer maxes out at almost 88 cubic feet of space when you fold down the rear seats.

Driver Assistance

Both models feature advanced driver assistance tech across the lineup. Standard safety systems include automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking. You can also get either of these SUVs with BlueCruise, which gives you hands-free driving capabilities on many North American highways.

You can compare these models in person today and bring home the ideal SUV for your family. The Explorer comes in four different trims and you can choose from five trims of the Expedition. Visit JP Ford in Blytheville, AR today to test drive either the 2025 Explorer or Expedition.
